PAUL MEDLICOTT
    - the story so far
 
First a journalist, working in turn for the Times Education Supplement, the Times Higher Education Supplement (of which he was a founder staff member) and New Society as Books Editor and Education Correspondent.
 
In television, he worked for the BBC’s Arts Features Department as production assistant on How It Is! then as producer for Theatre Projects Film Productions on All you need is love, just re-released on dvd, directed by Tony Palmer and other music documentaries. He edited Sarah Churchill’s autobiography Keep on dancing published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in 1981.
 
In 1979 he became press adviser to David Steel and was the Liberal Party’s Parliamentary Press Officer until 1984, directing the press and media campaign for the Liberal Party in the 1983 General Election and for the SDP Liberal Alliance in the 1985 European Election.
 
He formed the government relations company, The Westminster Consortium, in 1986.

Extra curricular
 
Paul is a Trustee of grownupgreen, the environment education charity that runs and manages the eponymous interactive website
 
He has been a member of the management committee of the London Welsh Trust and Association, for whom he edited the bi-lingual quarterly Cymry Llundain Newyddion a Barn / London Welsh News and Views during 2001/02.
 
And then there's the singing...
 
Paul sings Second Bass with the BBC Symphony Chorus of which he was Chairman from May 2001 to October 2008.
 
He also sings regularly with the London Welsh Chorale the mixed voice choir now directed by Gareth Hancock who has recently taken over from Kenneth Bowen. Paul was Chairman of the LWC from 1990-95.
 
 
Solo roles have included the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) and Sarastro (Magic Flute) with the Company of Singers, directed by Alistair Jones.
 
Paul also occasionally contributes to programmes put on by his wife the Storyteller Mary Medlicott.
